We pride ourselves on a solution based, customer focus approach in offering turn-key projects to the municipal and industrial sectors. In addition to design, build, operation and maintenance capabilities Hydro International also has an extensive off-site manufacturing and innovation facility based in Navan, Co. Meath. This facility supports our Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) function as well as our machine building capabilities for water/wastewater treatment and dewatering.
Reporting to the Managing Director the Manufacturing Workshop Manager will be required to manage the day-to-day aspects of project delivery including timely delivery of the project on budget and in line with best practice Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental standards. The ideal candidate should have a strong engineering background and have prior experience overseeing and managing a workshop type environment with varying skill sets such as fabrication, turning, welding and CNC machining.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The main duties and responsibilities of the Manufacturing Workshop Manager are outlined as follows:
- Work as part of a team in our manufacturing facility on one or more projects at any one time, embracing the ethos of “one team” culture.
- Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental standards, policies and procedures are always adhered to in the manufacturing facility.
- Instil a positive Health and Safety culture within the team in their thinking and actions.
- Oversee the entire facility in terms of staff and material production process in order to drive performance, efficiency and quality standards in line with business objectives and goals.
- Oversee the complete production process, quality control, staff, materials and equipment.
- Manage the routine preventative maintenance and repair of production equipment and facilities in line with manufactures recommendations.
- Implement and manage lean manufacturing along with operational standard procedures.
- Recruitment, training, staff mentoring, development and leadership.
- Ability to produce reports, monitor progress and analyse production data. Forecast v’s actual.
- Scaling up the production facility and operation as future growth levels demand.
- Co-ordinate all testing and quality check procedures including factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), inspection and test plans (ITPs), pipe pressure testing, hydrostatic testing, etc
- Prepare a manufacturing programme taking input from all managers and engineering staff. Track, monitor and adjust this programme throughout the production lifecycle.
- Mitigate risks to the programme by making changes to manufacturing methods, upscaling or outsourcing.
- Manage raw water material supply and procurement including re-ordering and re-stocking.
- Anticipate risk and manage opportunities.
- Ensure positive experience for the customer and their representatives instilling an ethos of collaboration and co-operation.
- Seek to improve the manufacturing process by providing lessons learned feedback and innovative solutions for adoption on future projects.
- Keep appraised of latest standards and technology through continuous professional development (CPD).
- Provide input to business functions and operations in shaping and implementing efficiencies and improvements.
- Other duties as required from time to time.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
The main knowledge, skills and experience required of the MEICA Project/Prog. Manager are outlined as follows:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a similar role, preferably in the mechanical manufacturing industry.
- Experienced in the management of a workshop environment with varying disciplines of welding, turning, fabrication and CNC operation.
- Ability to liaise directly with customers as Hydro International representative on production time, quality and technical issues.
- Minimum of a Level 7 Degree in a relevant Engineering Qualification.
- Good working knowledge of programme management software such as Microsoft Project and Primavera P6. Ability to prepare baseline programmes and programme updates.
- Ability to use own initiative, problem solve and adjust as issues arise during project delivery.
- Excellent working knowledge of MS packages such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Project.
- Strong communications skills with a high level of motivation.
